S5 to S7 HW Conversion

I want to upgrade to S7 cpu which is equvivalent in S7-300 or S7-400 CPU Given this info what S7 processor would you recommend as a replacement? eg 315-2DP or would it be one from the 400 series? This is all about Siemens S5 configuration. hardware: PS 951-7LB21 3A : one, CPU 942-7UB11 : one, AI 465-7LA13 16Ch. : two, AO 470-7LA12 8Ch. : two, DI 430-7LA12 32Ch. : three, IM305-7LA11 : one, link to : DI 430-7LA12 32Ch. : two, DO 451-7LA12 32Ch. : five, IM305-7LA11 : one, Thanks in advance Phayalek

aikona Posts: 487 Rating: (36)	I would go with a S7 -412 .If I counted correctly you need 14 IQ modules and PSU/CPU using a UR1 rack you got one spare location. There are special connectors to enable you to use the old module socket. If you want to use 300 then you need at least 315 and extension rack and interface modules . Eric

JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (45)	I think a 315 would be fine. If you select 315-2DP, the profibus port is in-built and you can put an ET-200M rack as the second rack. S7-300 IOmodules are smaller in foot print and generally a bit cheaper than S7-400 modules.
