Hi all,

I have been using the Scalance M874-3 with a 3G Sim card and am able to work with it. However, I have a project now where the router will be installed in an area without GSM coverage so we are planning to use a LAN cable with internet to connect to it for internet.

I am not sure if this is possible? If it is, what do I need to configure? Or do I need to buy a different model Scalance?

I would not expose a PLC directly to internet.
I would opt to get an vpn server such as Ewon Cosy+

You access this, you need to install VPN client in your laptop, connect to this VPN gateway ewon cosy, then you will be able to ping your PLC.

However, I am surprised by the response to get another brand router. Doesn't Siemens have a Scalance model that can connect to a LAN cable to access the remote VPN server instead of relying on the SIM card?

I do not want another brand router because I already have a VPN server with Siemens Sinema Server. The Ewon Cosy is a monthly subscription VPN server in the cloud if I am not mistaken. I already have a local Siemens Sinema Server in my office.
