SIMATIC 1500/1200 Master ----> to ----> Slave Omron, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Delta, Fatek System Are the gateway instllation neccessory for the compatibility of Master Slave Protocol. Regards

Are the gateway instllation neccessory for the compatibility of Master Slave Protocol.

Hello MS1981;

You could start by examining this document for TIA Portal v18, showing you (among other information) the comunication drivers available between a S7-1500/1200 and different 3rd-party PLCs.That should at least provie a starting point for your inquiry.

Details on connecting networks between the different brands of PLCs are available in this document, and in the online help of Step 7.

Since you mentionned WinCC Unified, I toolk the liberty of examining the drivers you can use to connect your HMI or PC station to 3rd-party PLCs as well:

Based on thee posts you can find in the SIOS (use the Search Box at the right of this page) most users will make this work without many issues. That would allow you to read and write to your Rockwell PLC from your S7 PLC. If the WinCC Unified runtime does not allow connection over Ethernet/IP to a Controllogix, why not consider using the S7 as a data concentrator? You could use Ethernet/IP to collect all the data from the Rockwell PLC (that you want to show in WinCC) in the S7, using the Application example already mentionned. You could then send the data to the WinCC Unified station over Profinet. See the atachment below for a (admittedly) very crude suggestion for this network. Hello MS1981;

To my knowledge, the Application example "EtherNet/IP Scanner – Connecting third party I/O’s using EtherNet/IP" allows the S7-1500 or S7-1200 to act as a scanner (master) on Ethernet/IP, so it can interrogate Ethernet/IP adapters (slaves) on the network. Based on thee posts you can find in the SIOS (use the Search Box at the right of this page) most users will make this work without many issues. That would allow you to read and write to your Rockwell PLC from your S7 PLC.

If the WinCC Unified runtime does not allow connection over Ethernet/IP to a Controllogix, why not consider using the S7 as a data concentrator? These links contain the code (in the project examples) that will allow your S7 CPUs interrogate and write to a Controllogix-type CPU, over Ethernet/IP.

You would not need a separate gateway if you use these drivers.

Please open these links and study them.

Then look for links for your 3rd-party PLC communication interfaces over Ethernet/IP and see how they need to be setup as Adapters on the network, for example.
