Abyrne Bronze Member Joined: 11/26/2008 Last visit: 2/26/2025 Posts: 101 Rating: (4)	Hi, I am looking for information on a Sinaut application...I am using a Modem MD-720-3 with an S7_200 and Sinaut Micro How can the communication signal be set up to change faultlessly between SMS and GPRS and back again?The application would be; Switching between data streaming over GPRS to accepting an incoming SMS query, sending an SMS messages to an engineer to identify possible alarms etc. and switching back to data streaming over GPRS. I have heard that this switch back to GPRS has glitches where the signal hangs and crashes. Powering down and powering up again allows the GPRS signal to re-establish it’s self. Has anyone experienced this glitch? Is there a way to avoid it? Any help is appreciated

I would like to know if this is a hardware or software fault and if there is any firmware or software updates that deal with the issue of dropped GPRS comms after sending an SMS message

Have you checked by any chance which Firmware you are running on your MD720-3? It should be the V 1.77. SINAUT MD720-3 GSM modem is now being shipped with the updated firmware V1.7.7 Best regards J_Bell

I have foundthe followingarticle which describes a work-around to the communications disturbances I described: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/29288497 I will have to test this to see if it solves my problem!

When I say fail, it would not connect to the Sinaut Server. If I powered down the modem and powered up again it would connect again.The problem was very random. I tried switching every 15 minutes to test it. Does anyone know of a Demo project for Sinaut available online?
