Hi,

I need to follow the sequence of the ladder diagram program of my CNC milling machine.

It is from the year 2001, so it is using the old platform of Siemens drives using Simodrive 611

I have a backup of the .arc files for the PLC and the Numeric Control.

They are as follows: 

xxxxxxx_PLC.arc

xxxxxxx_NC.arc

where xxxxx is my serial number.

I am managing to read all the parameters of the NC file in a simple Word or Text document.

But I am not managing to read the _PLC file.

I tried using the SinuCom software, but in Sinucom you have to set an editor to read the files.

I set it as Notepad, and once again, I am not managing to read it.

Most likely it is because I need a software to read it in actual LADDER format, but I do not know what software / editor to use.

The Modern Siemens softwares do not seem to work, but perhaps there is a work around.

Any support is highly appreciated,.

Unfortunately neither of the 2 options worked out for me.

The closest match I managed to find is to make use of a program with teh name " PLC Programming Tool"

However this only accepts .ard  or .pte files but not .arc files.

Do you know how I can convert my .arc file to a .ard  or .pte file?

Then I should be able to open it succesfully in the PLC programming tool.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes I have Simatic Manager Step 7.

I have an 810 CCU Controller.

I tried both methods that you told me about but they did not work.

When using the first procedure to use Simantic Manager Step 7, I am not being allowed to import .arc files.

I can however import .ard files or .pte files, but not .arc files.

So if I can convert the .arc file to .ard I should be able to view it.

Do you know how I can convert it to .ard please?

Both .pte and .ard look to be Siemens software as they are available as a File type selection in PLC Programming Tool or Simantic Manager Step 7

For the 1st option, I will send you screen shots of my Sinumerik Manager --> File --> Retract , tonight as I am not at my PC right now.

Yes I am doing a complete upgrade of my Machine.

I have a Hardinge VMC600II machine, which is from 2001, but still in very good shape.

I am upgrading all the electronics of the controller and motor drivers.

I am changing the controller from 810D to 828d and changing the Motor drivers from Simodrive611 to Simatic S120 Combi.

I already have purchased everything, and will soon start the replacements.

But I need to program the PLC part within the 828d PPU280.3 first before I carryout the swap.

I am not succeeding with Option 2 because my old 810D is giving me intermittent problems, most of the time it crashes or  freezes.

So I asked Hardinge for the backup files.

They sent them to me.

They sent me 2 files one is the xxxxxNC.arc file

the other one is xxxxxxxPLC.arc file.

The most important file that I need is the xxxxxxxPLC.arc file as it contains all the PLC program of my machine.

Since my 810D old controller is frequently corrupting, I cannot extract the data from my machine, and I cannot load the one I received from Hardinge into the 810D either, because it is crashing.

So my only option available is Option 1 - to see the PLC Ladder diagram in Simunerik Manager  or in an another Siemens software called PLC Programming Tool.

Then once I will be able to see it in Sinumerik Manager, then i will just copy it in my 828d controller.

The closest I have got to was when I used PLC Programming Tool, because it accepts to import .ard files.

So IF  I manage to convert my xxxxPLC.arc file to a .ard file I will manage to copy the PLC program using PLC Proggamming Tool.

I will send you clear screenshots of everything tonight my time. ( right now it is morning time here)
