I'm trying to simulate a comunication between two 1516 PLCs in a TIA Portal 18 project. Both PLCs are in the same project. I run the project in S7-PLCSIM V18 with both PLCs:

I checked the connection and it looks fine:

I set for both PLCs two DB (one for reading and the other one for writing), each DB is 8 bit long and I configured only the GET instruction in every PLC:

The pointer seems right to me, but when I try to put some of the bits to TRUE in PLC_1, on the PLC _2 all the bit in the reading DB remains FALSE:

In PLC_1:

The DB in PLC_2:

The problem is the same when I modify bits in PLC_2 and I try to read them in PLC_1.

I don't know what I'm missing.

Does V18 PLCSim restrictions list S7 communications as not being supported?  Does it cover how to communicate between 2 different PLCsim instances if it does support S7 comms?  I ask these questions because in older portal versions, S7 comms was not supported.  Getting inter-device comms working is not generally "default" settings and it works.

Also, do both PLCs have complementary security settings and shared certificates to allow secure comms between the 2 PLCs?

I tried to search the "PLCSim restriction list", but I can't find it. What I can do is to share the TIA installed software:

Few months ago I installed the "S7-PLCSIM_V18_SP2.iso", otherwise I wouldn't have been able to simulate with TIA Portal v.18. I tried to serch for some detailed information about SP2, but I only found this page: Readme_enUS_en-US.pdf - SIMATIC S7-PLCSIM V18 SP2 Readme - ID: 109823433 - Industry Support Siemens, where there are no much information to consult.

So, I don't know if the PLCSim I have, is enough to allow the two PLCs in the project to communicate.

I had a similar problem, I don't know if you've already solved it. For me it worked after I configured a Gateway.
