When using the VCI and GIT with a team, the best way is to use fixed number range for each group of functionality. Otherwise after each compile by any teammate, many blocks are changing unessesarrywise all time. This makes tracking of changes in the generated XML files unneccessary hard.

In portal, set the block numbering to manual, then adjust the block #. Are you asking how to do that in Openness? Set the block numbering to manual you are asking?

Hi Lipote. Not exactly answering your question, but have you tried to work with multiuser servers instead of VCI? I find it much better, mainlly if you are workng with more people. With multiuser you can do the commits and see the locked blocks on the project tree. And you can also use it in comissioning mode during the startup to manage downloads. And it keeps some versions buffered in case you want to restore it.
