The 6ES7134-6TD00-0CA module does not take a 4-20mA (HART) current signal directly (See page 16 for the input types). This module is really a universal temperature sensor card, designed for thermocouples and RTDs. It can take a DC volts input, and any current signal can be converted to a voltage input by creating an IR (voltage) drop across a resistor connected across the (+) and (-) analog input terminals. The module's maximum voltage input range (page 17) is ±1.0V DC. A precision 50 Ohm resistor will create a 0.20V to 1.00V dc drop over the range of 4-20mA. Notes 1. You'd have to scale the engineering units to account for the use of only 0.2-1.0 Volts on a -1.0V to +1.0V input. 2. The 0.2 to 1.0 V span uses only 40% of the module's ±1.0V resolution, so you're losing 60% of module's resolution. 3. HART communications will not function with a 50 Ohm input resistor because HART needs a minimum of 230 Ohms of loop resistance to operate. If you to add a 250 Ohm resistor in another part of current loop (not across the (+) and (-) terminals), then HART would operate. Assuming you are connecting an analog output from this card to a device that accepts 4-20mA signal on its input (transmitters have a 4-20mA output, whereas actuators/positioners/I-P's/VFDs have 4-20mA inputs), then the statement for item 2 (HART actuator), "2 Connecting an actuator with 4...20 mA interface, with or without HART" (page 14) tells you that HART is not needed for operation, but the 4-20mA signal is there all the time. https://cache.industry.siemens.com/dl/files/400/109768400/att_1262231/v1/AQ_4xI_HART_manual_en_US_en-US.pdf |
