implementing a 412-5H based hardware redundant system

To setup a redundant ET 200M station, the standard S7-300 rsil and module U-connector will not work.

The redundant station requires the equivalent of an active rack (such as the S7-400 CPUs use), that is what the active bus modules and redundancy rail allow you to do.

So you need an IM/IM active bus module holding both IM 153-2 modules, then one IO/IO active bus module for each pair of I/O module in the redundant station. Since the active bus modules do not fit in a standard S7-300 rail, you need the special redundancy rail.

The screenshot you posted earlier as a pdf is a good hardware configuration for a redundant ET 200M station on a S7-400H system.

This subtitled video will show you how to connect the two separate IM 153-2 interface modules of the redundant ET 200M station to a S7-400H system. Notice the position of the dipswitches on the IM 153-2 to select the Profibus addresses of each, and you can catch a glimpse of the active bus modules behind the I/O modules on the special redundancy rail.
