hazem Bronze Member Joined: 2/15/2010 Last visit: 1/20/2024 Posts: 329 Rating: (6)	Dear, I have problem related to loose contact of drives between encoder board and main board always fault shown F090 and it means Encoder Fault when we looked at r949 it shown number 6 and this means loose contact with board we checked board are fixed ok and no any loose contact after several times of trail it work but sometimes repeat and cause big damaged so any technical solution for this? i think to fix or interchange separte mail and female with 20pin to override this silly problem anybody faced like this before. Vithani Platinum Expert Joined: 7/8/2009 Last visit: 8/5/2024 Posts: 1976 Rating: (477)	Yeah its always being problem to fix Encoder Module or Profibus Module on MM440. You have to take care and properly fix it. Double or Tripple check that.. Now after doing that, do some basic check to avoid F090. Make sure that you are using Shielded cable and Shield is grounded properly from Both End. Isolate Encoder cables from Power cables. And also have a look for proper Earthing Your Plant area. We had this headache till few months back. Our Plant was in comissioning stage so lots of Welding work was going on and we were getting frequent F090 in so many drives. Main reason was person who were working on Welding Machine were always connecting earthing to cable tray or some other improper Earthing point Now after comissioning, No More welding is going and No more trippings are observed.. So Please have a look at these Points and I hope that will help you out Regards Devesh Vithani

Regarding to your point Make sure that you are using Shielded cable and Shield is grounded properly from Both End it is mandatory forshield cable toconnect only from one side otherwise theshield will be use as earth path and can cause more damge to your equipments. hazem Bronze Member Joined: 2/15/2010 Last visit: 1/20/2024 Posts: 329 Rating: (6)	Dear, I worked with YOKOGAWA DCS(CENTUM3000) at installation of two gas turbine with British Gas and for instrumensts and transmitters inside the plant only one side earth grounded. and i will send you documents of gas turbine by Siemens which said you should connect shield from one side only to your privte mail. People have practice to ground Shield only at Panel side and that created problem so many times and it was resolved by properly grounding at Both Ends.. In one of the link above, Its mentioned that Normally there are two shields..Inner shield should be grounded at One Side and Outer shield must be at Both end.. Regards, Devesh Vithani

Hazem, Did you ever find a way to stop the loose connections? We've been having to use tape or other means to hold the faceplates on tightly enough, so that it will run. Thanks, Steve
