Elec-Eng Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Further down in the datasheet it mentions: Mains connection - Either top or bottom. So it seems that is does not matter. What does the 1/2 terminal at the top and 2/1 terminal at the bottom signify?

It is one & the same, i.e. you can connect incoming phase at top (1) & outgoing phase at bottom (2) or vice varsa. Please refer attached sheet. HTH.
