Cannot Open WinCC Project

However, during my last attempt, it didn’t switch to runtime in the existing project. Then, I tried starting a new project, and I got the following error: "SQL server cannot access database." When I tried opening an existing project, after selecting “Start server locally,” it stayed on a blank screen for a while and then gave the error: "Cannot open WinCC project - project manager for configured server is not running. Check the computer name of the server." I checked whether the services are running. There are multiple services for WinCC, but only one of them isn’t running. When I tried to restart it, it wouldn’t start. However, I didn’t find any issues with the main server I am using. What do you recommend I do? I have tried many things, including looking at other related topics, but I couldn’t solve the issue.

ElonksuM_SN_BN Regular Expert Joined: 5/6/2022 Last visit: 7/10/2025 Posts: 589 Rating: (123)	Hi Damla22, In this case, the first thing it would be good to know is what version of WinCC you are working with in order to try to find a solution or the reason for the problem. On the other hand, any change in computer name , user account, policies or Microsoft updates can affect the Windows user account and modify a previously working WinCC system. You can try to right-mouse click on each shortcut and choose Run As Administrator to make sure the permissions are granted in Windows to fully use the application. You can also check the Windows user to make sure it is still a member of the Administrator and Simatic HMI users group (See screenshot). Finally, I was able to find the following link to a FAQ that may help you, which is to remove the DFC from the project: "Update the configuration file of the WinCC project (delete DCF)" Best regards!
