I have a DMG DMU50, 840D Powerline control with manual B and C rotary axes that I can't work on.

Homing procedure is ok for x,y,z axes. B axis appears as homed in the menu but C axis is not homed.

I can move the machine on x,y,z and start spindle but when I try to change the tool or unlock manual axes it gives me an error that C axis is not homed.

Both B and C axis are manual but have encoders on screen.

I can't find nothing in the manual about homing a manual axis.

Can anyone direct me to a manual or give me info regarding homing manual axis please?

So as I sad the problem is the C axis not homed and the machine throwing error 600401 Interlocking 4 reference ppint not approached

 By manual axis I mean the C and B axis have handwheels for moving but I can se the position on display.

I see you quite new on CNC system, at least for Siemens. I try to help you, but 1st of all you need making your questions understood by others. Please explain “ what do you mean manual axis”?

2nd from all I hosted this forum for many years, I put some tips on the top of all questions—-one of them is asking people to add pictures to support yourself and let others to easy understand

please post your screenshots in machine area showing X,Y,Z, C, B?

and you noticed ? When running spindle, if C Axis display change or not

a easy tip, I think you bought the machine as 2 nc hand one, it’s easier to contact DMG , the machine builder for help to get operation manual

No, C is not spindle, it is the C axis like in this photo.

When I move this handle the display changes a little. I can't move it more because I can't unlock the hidraulic.

In the manual I have that is in german it shows how to move it but I guess it's not working because is not homed. It doesn't trow an error if I try to move it, just does not work.

So I need help from someone with this machine maybe?!!

The main question in resolving your issue is: why did this happen. Was it suddenly or this problem arose on commissioning stage after machine was bought. Also you should know actual adjustment state of your encoder by means of MD34210 $MA_ENC_REFP_STATE (status of absolute encoder). Description:

0 Encoder not calibrated 

1 Encoder adjustment enabled

2 Encoder is calibrated

The second is what type of encoder is installed on your machine? You can check axis MD 30240 ENC_TYPE for corresponding axis. Description of encoder type:

0: Simulation

1: Raw signal generator (high resolution)

2: Rectangular signal encoder (quadruplication of the pulse number per revolution)

3: reserved (previously encoder for stepper motor)

4: General absolute encoder in general (e.g. with EnDat interface)

5: Special absolute encoder with SSI interface.

I guess that DMG machine with PL system should have absolute encoder with EnDat interface. So the above instructions are applicable only for this case.

0. Check whether the referencing mode is set to "Assume the reference point value":

MD34200 $MA_ENC_REFP_MODE == 0

If not, enter the value 0 in the machine and trigger a Power On reset.

see please answer!!!----you can run spindle --When running spindle, if C Axis display change or not

after you confirmed I may help you to home C axis. and can you open the control cabinet to send picture and check how many drives you have?

and you have German language operation manual --why you cannot use it.

now almost no possible to wait for other people who have same kind of machine to help you

So when the spindle moves C axis display does not move.

When I move the C axis handle the C axis display moves!

I read and translated the geman manual and can't find anything about moving a manual C axis in it
