Problem import GSD files

AndyP Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, Hope someone can help mew with this problem. I am not able to import gsd files into the HWConfig catalogue. I have tried several files from several venders and get the same error - "Sybtax error in GSD file" Installation is a recent one of Step7 5.3 SP3 - Have not done a S7 project for a few years so I am not sure wether this is an installation error or what. This may be unrelated but I also wppear not to have a Standard catalogue but only a current_module one. if I click on the styandard catalogue I get an access violation. I have checked the Max_User_Prm_Data_Len parameter of the GSD files as per an FAQ but these seem okay. Any one with a similar problem or suggestions? Thanks in advance Andy

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi Andy, STEP7 is checking better then with older versions if the GSD are conform the wanted setup of a GSD-file. Please place the GSD on the forum so that I can check if this is read in in my STEP7 V5.4 SP1. I have had trouble (that could be with S7 V5.3) that in the GSD-directory also PN-devices where placed, that are .XML files in the directory C:\Program Files\Siemens\Step7\S7DATA\GSD, normally thats ok but in some circumstanges this will let hang up STEP7. There is also a hotfix 1for S7 V5.3 SP3, with the newest V5.4 SP1 I don't have any trouble.
