naga Posts: 101 Rating: (0)	Affecting original design if, 1. There are no spare IOs available and if you need to expand the IOs by add on boards.like IM or remote IOs or new IO boards etc. 2. If a stand alone system is to be communicated with DCS, CP card will be added to orginal design. 3. If you need redundancy at CPU level IO level additional HW installation is required like hot stand by 4. If the PLC is to be networked in PROFIBUS, it may need PROFIBUS repeater additionally. 5. External RAM can be replaced with EPROM/FLASH if you want to retain the program in case of power outage and without battery backup. 6.Additional CPs may be required if a HMI at field side is added Like this, there are so many factors that affect the original design Regards,

Hi Lavya, There might be several factors which may affect the design, it would depend upon the application, however you may consider 1. Spare I/O, Memory 2. Control Voltage/ Power voltage 3. Weather you need Relay type outputs 4. If you have too many variables parameters then must use an HMI 5. If you would need the special functionality such as High speed counter or pulse output, then make sure to use the right module 6. You would need to consider the standard module which customer is using in order to reduce inventory cost. Perhaps list might not end here, bit it depends on application to Application
