hsvz2016 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	i am trying to time sync 7SJ80 relay. as it is mentioned in the datasheet there are 5 modes of operation for time tracking: 1 Internal =>Internal synchronization using RTC (presetting) 2 IEC 60870-5-103=>External synchronization using port B (IEC 60870-5-103) 3 Pulse via binary input =>External synchronization with pulse via binary input 4 Field bus (DNP, Modbus, VDEW Redundant)=>External synchronization using field bus 5 NTP (IEC 61850) =>External synchronization using port B (IEC 61850) I am wondering what is "Pulse via binary input" is there any description about that? what is the protocol and signal definition about this time sync. protocol?

Mike J Platinum Expert Joined: 10/9/2007 Last visit: 8/18/2025 Posts: 1281 Rating: (116)	Hi it is not a prototocol, but really a signal which tells the internal clock that when the pulse is received it is 0ms, or 0s and 0ms. I dont remember if this is PPM (pulse per minute) or PPS (pulse per second) for this case. you must adjust the internal clock manually once (via Digsi) and then the pulse will keep the clock synchronized
