B_McInroy Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello everyone, I am a student at fleming college in Peterborough Ontario currently taking computer engineering technology. I am in the process of obtaining summer employment. I figured I would register to this forum to see if anyone could pass on some tips for a new guy going into this field of work. Also some other questions: I was told Siemens Milltronics does summer employment, confirmation on that would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone here work at Siemens Milltronics in Peterborough? Are there any certifications that you would recommend? (The only one I am currently looking at is OACETT) What skills are required to be a computer engineer at Siemens? COmputer programmer, network specialist , PLC , SCADA , Touch panels, drives... B_McInroy Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hellocandyengineer, My concern now is that I do not recognize a lot of those requirements listed. Looks like I may have to look into more courses. I attended a Siemens presentation at my school a while back. It was a little more fire system technician oriented, but they mentioned that they will provide you with courses to take while you're employed. They seemed to really encourage personal development. Is this the same with Siemens SITRAIN WORLD? Or is it more of a course you take prior to employment? Is there an entry level job that is a little more basic? Or should I simply be looking for experience/training? Networking is my greatest interest for sure. I have been doing calculus and some network analysis courses, as well as cisco CCNA 1-4. Some practical work in teams courses, learning team skills and ethics as well. We havn't gone much further in depth in networking than that unfortunatly. Would this be enough to get me a summer job at Siemens? Thanks again, I really appreciate your help ,Ben McInroy

Now you will see that there are many options Not only the job that Ive sent but also many IT sector jobs, which doesnt require 5years experience. Think about what you will work in the future, Select the area that you are in love with, You wont be always working at 08 to17, you might be working at 08 to 22 (24 hour time system) If you love your job, then you will never complain when you are in need to work hard.
