integrate 2 existing projects in 1 PLC

JW.net Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I have 2 existing projects, which i have to integrate into one ofcoarse both are using the same memory range (why should it be an easy job? ) and the symbolic names reference to the adress range like for example the reset failure bit has address m 20.0 and has symbolic name (m 20.0) in the commentis written "reset failure" in the other project m 20.0 is used fora different function what i want is to rename the symbolAND move it to another adress. Not only for thisone but for a couple of 60 - 100. Is there an easy way to do it? (not with too much mouse clicks per symbol) Thanks and best regards, JW

There is also a search and replace in STEP7... You may also say to STEP7 work with symbolics and then replace the variables with other ones....

Have a look in chapter "8.4 Setting the Address Priority (Symbolic/Absolute)" in the "Programming with STEP 7 V5.4" manual. There it is described how to switch names or assignments of symbols in the symbol table. But there is also some mouse clicking... To change the symbol tabel in an automated way you can use the STEP 7 Command Interface. With the STEP 7 Command Interface you can access your STEP 7 project from an Excel macro. With this Excel macro you could export the symbol tabel of your S7 program to an Excel sheet and then programmbeatically change the symbol names and/or assignments. After this you could import the symbols back to the symbol table of your S7 program. For more informations regarding the STEP 7 Command Interface have a look in this thread: Use of Source file. There you'll find the manual and a sample Excel file.
