MultiRanger 100 + PC + Simatic PDM

slaven Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Dear collegues! I have problem with MultiRanger 100 +PC + Simatic PDM. I couldnt find any info about the way to connect this. Please explain me what I need for paramtrize 'Multiranger 100', what kind of connection? What is the way to connect my PC to MultiRanger 100 using Simatic PDM? Please dont kick me...

SonicRanger Posts: 151 Rating: (8)	Hi Slaven, This is described in the manual of the MR100. You need to order RS232 to RJ11 serial cable (also known as "dolphin cable"), or make it yourself. Connect your comport of your PC to the RJ11 port of the MR100. The RJ11 port is port#1 in the MR100. Communication works over Modbus RTU. Out of the box, the new MR100's are parameterized for Modbus communication (P770 #1 = 3, P772 = 115.2). Choose in PDM the network view, modbus network, and the MR100. Select the properties of the modbus network to check the settings with your MR100. And of course, make sure you have the right device description! Good Luck, SonicRanger.

Another question: I try to add "Multiranger 100" device into Simatic PDM using "Manage device catalog" all was going well, but then when I tryed to add Modbus Device in the Simatic Manager I had the error like "Device description could not be loaded. Please install it in the SIMATIC Manager using 'SIMATIC PDM Manage Device Catalog' or reinstall SIMATIC PDM." then Ichecked itand Simatic PDM wrote "The selected sourse doesnt content any device CD....", pointed to the multiranger filse again and nothing..... I dont understand where is the problem.... What was going wrong... Please suggest me something.

If you cannot find it, please contact your local distributor, or order a free update at: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/31239837 the device catalog CD is included in the update.
