S7-400H and ie pb link

Hi everyone!

I used controller S7-400H (S7-414-5H) 

To him must be connected total of 9 DP slave devices, namely:

4 pcs. CPU 314 (using CP342-5) 5 pcs. S7-1200 (using CM 1242-5)  - DPslave's.

Is it possible to use the IE/PB link ? 

Like this:

PLC400H->Profinet->IE/PB->Profibus->DP_Slave1,DP_Slave2 and etc.

If Yes, how to configure the hardware?

Interested in terms of connecting IE/PB it to both the CPU in s7-400H system.

Perhaps this is not an answer to this question.The CPU you are using S7-414-5H has an integral DP port and you can connect all slaves with a Y-Link to redundant PROFIBUS with less programming labor. I am also eager to know if it is possible via PROFINET integral interface(IE/PB) with less troubles.

Problem with the Y-Link that is necessary to read approximately 1 Kbytes of data.

You will need 4 or 5 pieces Y-Link!

I would like to avoid it.

I fear you are out of the luck.

In order to make the IE/PB link directly available for both CPU's of a H system it must support so called "Profinet System Redundancy" (which the IE/PB unfortunately does NOT support).

You could still physically connect and use it as part of your S7-400H Profinet network, BUT it only be used as one-sided I/O's (i.e. it belongs to only one of the H CPU's and if that CPU goes down, the IE/PB link is also lost to the partner CPU, have a look too at https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/us/en/posts/s7-400h-with-third-party-device-on-profinet/107727 for more on this).

One can only hope that a new IE/PB link that supports Profinet System Redundancy (as well as MRP) is in development and will come out one day soon (may be worth your while to check directly with Siemens). 

Until such time though, good old Y-Link and Profibus is the way to go for you.

You don't have to loose connection to the 410-5H CPU if you set up 2 separate connections towards a generic partner (in my case a 315-2 PN/DP, but setup has to be generic, not specified ) and write a FB that utilizes get/put according to which CPU is active. That way you will retain communication on Profinet regardless of which CPU is master.

That is how i solved it anyway. :)

Do you know if at this days is already possible to use an IE/PB Link with a Profinet System Redundancy?

I know that IE/PB Link it self supports MRP but not System Redundancy.

In this case could I use a Scalance XF Y-switch or something link this? 

PLC400H->Profinet->Y-switch->IE/PB->Profibus->DP_Slave

The IE/PB LINK PN IO is a gateway between Industrial Ethernet and PROFIBUS. It enables seamless integration of PROFIBUS devices in the PROFINET fieldbus. The IE/PB LINK PN IO acts as a proxy: i.e. from the viewpoint of the IO controller, the integrated DP slaves are handled like IO devices with Ethernet interface.
