In your TIA Portal project, PLC configured in hardware as FW 4.2 or FW 4.3?

You say "error"?  Is it a "yellow" or "red" message?  I routinely have warning messages in with yellow ⚠ about different firmware revision between online and offline - and I routinely ignore them because that is exactly what I want.

It is important to know whether you are experiencing ERROR or WARNING messages before trying to help further.

Hi all,

I have a 1214c DC/DC/DC ( 6ES7 214-1AG40-0XB0 )which initially had firmware version 4.1 and running Tia Portal v14. Our Prosoft modules are having some weird issue with comms dropping sporadically . Found out we can use new blocks to communicate with CIP protocol using an updated firmware and Tia Portal. I see the requirements are Tia portal v15.1 and firmware version at or above 4.2. I updated to Tia Portal 15.1 and firmware 4.3.1 (See Siemens entry : 109782317 for information on the block library I'm using for CIP communication) Using the LCCF family of blocks I'm having trouble compiling the block. Its a very odd problem

When I have the project using the old firmware, 4.1, I can get online just fine but cannot have the LCCF block I'm using in project. I get an error message asking for a password to compile it.

Then when I switch the firmware to 4.2 or 4.3 in the offline project I can compile the block just fine. My problem arises when I then attempt to download with firmware 4.3. I cant get online because I have an error in the lower level components stating compatibility? Am I out of luck here?

I'm running what I believe is the latest Tia portal v15.1 update 8 and updated the HSP pack last night

Your very specific situation is probably best handled by Siemens Support by use of the "Support Request" -> create new request option available in the gray bar above these online forums.

I get an error stating "Error in lower level components" When I go down to local modules folder and expand that tree, I get "Incompatible" icons next to the modules.



Thats when I use firmware 4.3 in the project.
Then when I switch the PLC firmware to 4.1 from 4.3 it works just fine.
