840C hard disk failure

Controls_Engineer Posts: 60 Rating: (1)	Hi All, I am having a turning machine with 840C controller. In this I am facing a problem of hard disk diagnostic failure error during initial boot up. The system not proceeding further after displaying this message. I don’t have spare hard drive for this machine and also don’t have program backup. I am having another non used machine with 840C, so I have removed the hard drive from this machine and put into the first machine. Now system boots up and initial PLC/NC general reset mode screen comes up. I want to take user program, NC and PLC from failed hard drive and copied into working drive. Pls let me know in which location (folder) all these data saved?? BR, Venki

The system would normally put the files in the stored directory The machine data backups are the 250900 files. nulizhang Platinum Expert Joined: 10/17/2007 Last visit: 10/7/2024 Posts: 4039 Rating: (354)	Hi, look in C:\MMC.001\USER.005\PLC.030\PROGS.087\ copy all files or at least ANW_PROG (plc program) C:\MMC.001\USER.005\IBN.090\MDA.019\ copy all files there (for NC MD & PLC MD) insert copied files in good disk at same dir. then re boot with good disk and try to load NCMD PLCMD and PLC program. good luck and merry Xmas!

As per your suggestion i did the following thisngs 1.Copied thementionedfiles from failed drive into working drive 2.Fixed the working hard drive in the machine 3.When bootingup, the machine goes to NC general reset mode 4.I have tried to load NC MD, PLC MD, CYCLE MD and PLC user prog (ANW_PROG) by using the procedure (Made by me from 840C doc on CD which is attached for your reference). 5. Till step 55 everying goes well. At step 56 theerror message "165033 - conversion has not been switched off" displayed in a pop up window. 6. At top of the screen error message "300009 - MSD drive not loaded". I am not able to proceed further and expecting your help... nulizhang Platinum Expert Joined: 10/17/2007 Last visit: 10/7/2024 Posts: 4039 Rating: (354)	Hi, that means your have digital drive 611D, there are 2 options 1) you may make an new set up of 611D by yourself following Doc.840C (Drive MD-->...) you should check all your motors and drives for order#: such as 1FT60XX.../ 1PH71XX. 6SN1123-1Ax...... 2) looking for %TEA3 files copy and load. as i am busy , i may ffind time to show you the path for tea3, or i will check it in new yeaer. happy new year

(find in DocOnWeb, on Siemens web) still have problems post them, I will check for U later BR
