Access PLC bit DB34.DBX4.0 in NC Part Program

Dear Sir,

I want to access a bit in my Part Program. I want to do something like below statement.

ID=11 whenever DB34.DBX4.0==1 do $AA_OFF[X]=$AC_DRF[C]*0.15

DB34.DBX4.0 is the bit that is high when hand wheel is activated for C-Axis Movement. I can see it changing from 0 to 1 in Diagnostic PLV variable screen.

Can anyone help me how I can do this.

 I have some ideas but no time to try, you can test by yourself. 1st of all you need to read some books, I attached some important page for your ref. You did not say what kind of system do you have--but I think it may be 840D (if 840D SL , 828D, should be similar ) for 840D Doc on Web short name is "FB1", check A2 for chapter 2.2.4 Read/Write PLC variables--(see my pic.) Change their example to adapt to your use.

If you need deep, you need read FB1--P3--basic PLC program for FC21--I will attached pic in next answer post

I think you know how to program PLC like this :

OB1

........

A DB34.DBX4.0//Handwheel active

=M200.0

then you can use MB200 as buffer to transfer data to you NC program---MB200 using in the function I mentioned above Ch 2.2.4

then you use $A_DBB[x] to get data in you NC program

PS: you can also check DB10.DBB0 to DBB7 to see you can get some simple solution

The problem is I did not find (possible Siemens did not design that) NC variable for you need--"Handwheel active"--otherwise that will be easy to do your job.

If not then I will Try to enable a user data variable or some R-Parameter through PLC and use the same in NC program. but your reply has shown me the right direction to move into.

Once I am able to solve this problem I will post the detailed procedure (Step wise), so that someone else who is looking for the same solution can benefit from it.

 Your idea is good--whenever you get some success, post here to help other members.

and you said you will active some "user data variable "--this idea I also thought about, But I thought it is more job to do--unless you are familiar with 840D NC and PLC interface and PLC functions --such as you need to use FB1 setting 'NCKcom="1" and you need FB3/FB4/FB5 calling to exchange signals from NCK to PLC or reverse.     

But when  you mentioned "I think you already have certain level for doing this.

PS: can you make sure what is your CNC system--840D power line or 840D SL?

1. I wrote a small VB6 Program with DCTL.OCX to read the plc bit and in the same program activated a R-Parameter with DDE_Notify to 1 and 0 depending on the value of DB34.DBX4.0

Then set the program to start with HMI-Advanced as a soft key.

Now when ever DB34.DBX4.0 is 1 or 0, The R-Parameter is also 1 or 0.

Now I plan to use this r-parameter in my syncronised action to solve my problem.

I will share the VB Code also and the procedure to use dctl control. to achieve the same in few days. Traveling right now. If anyone needs urgent help then please respond to this thread and I will try to take out time to explain it earlier.

As I promised, I am attaching a PDF with full instructions on how to make a VB6 program to access PLC bit and how to synchronize it with R-Parameter.

I read your program, and have 2 questions:

#1--please confirm all "steps of VB6 programing" is made in HMI --You said PC/PC advanced

#2--finial program will be run in HMI or need transfer to NCK/PLC to run.
