ASCII communications with CP441-2

smiffy Platinum Expert Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 10/21/2024 Posts: 1547 Rating: (537)	I have been provided (via this forum) with a example project detailing how to use a 441-2 for ASCII communications. However, I stiil have a few questions:- 1) The 441-2 is a dual port card. According to the example project I should be using the BSEND/BRECV SFB's. These SFB's do not have any way of specifying the hardware address of the card/port (you know LADDR). So how do I specify which port I am using? How do I specify the hardware address of the card I am using? (after all, you could feasibly have 2 cards in the chassis, so you must have the ability to specify which one you intend to use for a particular connection). 2) What do the ID and R_ID parameters do? I have read the manual but it does not describe their function very well. The Example code suggests that the R_ID parameter must be zero for ASCII. But the ID value just seems to be some random number (1000 for BSEND and 1001 for BRECV in example code). By the way, I am using SCL not STL.

The connection (number 1001) is reported as open in Netpro, but there is no activity on the TX LED on the CP. All other LED's are off (i.e. no fault LED's). I have an RS485/RS422 module and an RS232 module. I have tried both and neither work. The status code from the BSEND FB call is 1. Find attacheda screenshot (CP441idb.zip) of the BSEND instance data block (columns are from left to right Address,Decalration,Name,Type,Initial Value,Actual Value & Comment). I have:- CP441Laptop TXD -------------------- RXD RXD ------------------- TXD GND ----------------- GND RTS ---++--- RTS \| \| CTS ---+ +--- CTS I have a LED test box atteched and RTS and CTS are both high (both ends) and RTD & TXD are both low. The TX light on the CP never shows any activity. I am using the ASCII protocol and the BSEND function.
