Hello Simon; The information on configuration of the IE/As-interface link in the basic manual discusses Step 7 v5.x as a programming software: Manual SIMATIC NET IE/AS-INTERFACE LINK PN IO https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/22712154 So here is further information treating the same issue with TIA Portal: How do you configure gateways on a SIMATIC S7-1500 controller? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/88778900
Up to and including STEP 7 V13 the
configuration of gateways from the "Network Components" section of
the hardware catalog is not supported with S7-1500. Therefore, the
configuration shown in Fig. 01 with an S7-300 CPU is not possible with an
S7-1500. With the AS-i Links it is possible either to incorporate the devices through a GSD file... (Note: the GSDML file is available in a link of the same FAQ, and shows you can only reserve a 32-byte section of addresses for the gateway).
With STEP 7 V13 SP1 and higher the configuration shown in Fig. 04 is supported
on an S7-1500 CPU... (Note: this refers to configuration of gateways from the "Network Components"
section of the hardware catalog). So, to summarize, you configuration method will depend on the version of TIA Portal v13 you have. In both cases you will reserve a 32-byte section allowing for up to 63 slaves in the As-I network. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
