Change OLD DC invertor to Micromaster 440 need speed info

I need to change the old DC convertor to MM440 Inverter . my issue is that the line is reading speed from the old convertor . Also after change i need to know the speed of engine . for the old convertor the speed was read via voltage generator on the convertor . haw i can read the spead from the MM440 ? is any chance to use the the same Step 7 block to read the speed ? Thank you a lot will be changed also the engine from DC to AC . Thank you a lot .

We need Informations about: Give us the old Motor and Power-Unit Give us the new Motor. For what do you wanted --> Servo-axis, positioniering. >or the old convertor the speed was read via voltage >generator on the convertor . >haw i can read the spead from the MM440 ? On the MM440 you can read the frequency for the motor. ( The speed from the Motor is real lower than the real speed) regards Karl

Well I suggest go for Sinamics instead of MM440 Now regarding your question, yes you can definately read the speed information of the Motor in S7 block. You can use PZD data received from drive or you can read Parameter directly using PKW If you want to know real speed, you have to use Encoder and you will get Encoder speed as feedback otherwise you can use feedback of calculated speed Please refer following FAQ How do I read / write parameters using PROFIBUS on the MICROMASTER 4 and CU240S/D DP/DP-F and PROFINET on the CU240S/D PN/PN-F? For Micromaster i can usethe calculated speed , but will be better with speed encoder . If you use a speed encoder for siemens that i can connect direct to AI to read 0-10 V please tell me the model also . Thank you a lot

	I dont Like people driving Fast, thats the reason I overtake them ;)

If it is for some sort of line drive where speed matching to anothermotor is critical then you would probaly need an encoder. If you just need to know the motor speed for a fan or pump then you can use senorless vector mode to give you a faily accurate speed reading. You can then used an analogue output from the drive into a PLC to get the motor speed. By adjusting the analogue output offset and scaling you should be able to match the speed reference to what your 6RA22 was producing You may be better with a G120 rather than an MM440.
