Hi Amen Allah, There are a few posts on the subject. There is a FAQ that states that you may reinstall SQL server after an instance of WinCC is started, but that doesn't apply to PCS7. PCS7 is more difficult in that matter. For PCS7 you must use the restore DVD which is supplied by the IPC. But, if you installed PCS7 on a "regular pc/notebook" by yourself, you must reinstall from scratch-> Install Windows, set the correct computername, then install PCS7. |

If you didn't start the SQL Server and SIMATIC Manager or other components, which use the SQL server inside, then you can rename the computer. Otherwise, you have to reinstall everything. |

Sorry Thunderstorm, From the PCS7 Compendium part A PCS7 V8.2: Changing computer names So, I would not recommend changing the computername in a production plant, but changing the name for one of your test ES systems should be possible with regard of above conditions. |
