Hello Richard; Profinet uses a TCP/IP physical layer and data transmoission layers; as such, many protocols can cohabitate on the network without problems, as long as collisions do not interfere with transmissions (Profinet is immune, not Modbus/TCP). If you care to check, you can search the forum on the subject, you will see that the question has been asked a few times before, and that the consensus is that you can go ahead.One example: PROFINET TCP/IP and Modbus TCP/IP Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

You do not need any additonal hardware. You can use the PN port of the CPU for modbus TCP. You will need some additional software from IT4Industry. See this post. |
