control Stepper motor By PTO

Hi to all, i have to manage a stepper motor, by a cpu 1500 and they suggest to buy the card TM PTO 4 6ES7 553-1AA00-0AB0. this card can manage stepper motor, but i don t undestand how to configure the tecnology object..

in the manual of this card is written that, for manage a PTO for stepper, can be done using TO_Positioning Axis.

But when i open that object to make configuration, i have some area (hardware interface, drive, encoder) where need to be set a profinet driver, an encoder ecc..

in my case a have a normal driver that need to have just the PTO from the plc

so i ask if is possible to manage a normal stepper managed by his driver by a pto from plc

In the module manual, section 4.5 contains details about configuring and operating the PTO outputs without using a TO.  What parts about that section of the manual are confusing to you?

Sounds like you selected the wrong TO for your specific task.  The PTO is your "drive".  The "encoder" is your feedback, and if it's open loop, you need to select an open-loop control strategy for a TO control the PTO.

You can also have the encoder feedback be the PTO command since you do not seem to have any feedback from the PTO stepper motor controller.

Hello Daniele, I hope you are well.

The configuration here is different than what you had in the S7-1200. From your description you seem to be on the right track. The "encoder" feedback in this case is not an actual feedback from a physical encoder (opinion).
