Could i directly connect a Modbus RTU slave to WinCC V7.0 or not?

If you have modbusTCP devices and WinCC V7, then WinCC can get the data from the device. You have to "map" the correct modbus registers in WinCC only. Wüstenräuber Hi all, Now we have a Modbus RTU slave, not a Modbus TCP/IP Slave. So i have some questions that hope you can help me to clariry them: - Could i directly connect a Modbus RTU slave to WinCC V7.0 or not? I have'nt tried this! - If not, I will use a Modbus gateway to convert from Modbus TCP/IP to Modbus RTU. Is it ok if i connect Modbus Slave to Mobus RTU port of the gateway and WinCC Station to Modbus TCP/IP port gateway? Thanks for your soonest reply, Best regards, Nguyen Tuan Viet

Amoralis Posts: 46 Rating: (5)	Hello! If somebody interested, I have a software modbus TCP-to-RTU gateway. It works like windows service and allows you to configure modbus tcp connection in WinCCto localhost.Then it transfers all requests toserial port and back. I can give it for testing.

gre_m Posts: 947 Rating: (45)	Hello! You can use com-port on PC, convertor USB - RS232/422/485 or separate cardRs232/422/485, which installed in PC. As soft interface you can write own application or OPC driver.May be, you can run driver from WinCC 5.0

Unfortunatelyinstallation packet is not implemented yet, so you have to install it manually. - !firstyou should have.Net Framework 3.5 or later installed on your system! -extract archive to the place of your choice -on XP -double click on install.cmd -on Windows 7 - run cmd.exe as administrator, change work directory to the place where you extracted files (cd c:\ModbusTCPtoRTU)and runinstall.cmd -go to Control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and start ModbusTCPtoRTU service -go to Control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Events and look for event like this: "Reading config result: \|LICENSE:ERR - request key code for product ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx= \|\|TCP:OK\|\|RTU:OK\|" -send me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx= in private message -i'll send you fully functionallicense code (for free in exchange for testing) -put license code in cfg.xml -adopt other parameters in cfg.xml to your needs -start service again (you can make it autostarting in service properties) -test it with WinCC or other Modbus TCP client If you'll notice any bugs - write to me i'll try to fix it. I have a power meter, with modbus RTU interface, I need to put into wincc, but wincc doesn't have Modbus RTU driver :( I think it had a while ago but not anymore, I bought a $5 rs-485 to RS-232 and tested with a modbus master and it is communicating well, but I need to put into wincc, was thinking using modbusRTU to modbusTCP driver...
