CPU314C-2DP with OPC Server

Henio Posts: 53 Rating: (2)	Hi, Im using for process control PLC S7 314C-2DP with OPC Server (Siemens) to provide data for HMI. My problem is that i cant watch online more then one FB/FC/VAT. Cant even use VAT for set/force variable (only way is to turn off online monitoring, set variable and then turn on online monitoring). So my questions are: 1. There is any chance to change it ? (do some changes in configuration or it is limited by PLC...I had never problem like this on PLCs S7 4xx) 2. What kind of communication are used for online watching FB/FC/VAT ? And it's correct that you can only monitor 1 FB at the same time with this S7-300 PLC. Maybe you check your connection resources in the CPU Properties and check or the PG Communication Resources are on "1".

Henio Posts: 53 Rating: (2)	Hi, it is specific for CPU314 or for whole 3xx series ? Im not sure, but i think, few years ago i had a project with CPU315 and i could use more then 1 online VAT/FB/FC. Btw in HW configuration i have reserved 2 connections for PG, 2 for OP and 6 for S7 connections and still have the same problem. And it means OPC server doesnt effect it, right ? Henio.

Hi Henio, Yes it's specific for the 300 CPU's but I'm not really sure maybe the 319-3PN/DP is capable of handling more. Especially the VAT monitoring could be better with the 319. It also has to do something with the cycle time of the CPU when everything could be online you the cycle time getting higher which could cause trouble in the proces. It's only 1 connection you need to configure for the PG in most cases the basic settings are set correct for that. Yes the OPC is a S7-connection so those are different then the online monitoring.

The number of this connections depends on the CPU (take a look at its properties on the HW Config). The resources that you doesn't reserver there are dinamicaly alocate. However, pay atention that for online monitoiring of a block, you will need also "break points". The S7-300 CPU has 2 and 400, 4 (I mot 100% sure about this last number). Each block that you monitore takes 2 breack points.

There you will find how many connections are available and how many are used. Sorry, couldn't tell you the detailed name of the folders and functions. Actually I've no STEP7 available. Henio Posts: 53 Rating: (2)	Hi, ok now know and understand why i can watch max 1 FB/FC on CPU3xx (except 318) and 2 FB/FC on CPU4xx (plus CPU318). But what about VATs ? As i wrote above i have on my project problem with watching more then 1 VAT online (even i cant set/force variable) too. Already tested on CPU313 that i can watch 3 VAT and set variable without any problem. So any1 can figure out where is problem in my project with OPC Server ? Online VAT is using S7 connection too ? On what depends how many VAT i can watch online at a time ? Thx a lot for all answers and help :) Best regards. Henio.

There is no influence in the number of usedS7 connections. However, I become a error 33:55348 if I try to go online with more then 5 at same time. In this case the limitation stay not in S7 connections and not in Break points. However I don't know where stay any documentation about it.
