CTI2500 CPU Ethernet to S7-300

Hi,

I need to communicate over Ethernet from a CTI2500 CPU to a S7-300.

The S7 has a CP343-1

Is it possible to do this with TCP Open communications?

I'd rather avoid using the CTI2572-A module (budgets are limited)

it won't be possible to do this with TCP open connections

I'd suggest you use the CTI 2500P-ECC1 communications processor.

(you'll need to check the firmware version of your CTI CPU for compatibility, but the firmware is field upgradable) 

You will be able to build a communication between the CP343-1 and the CTI CPU uisng the Modbus TCP protocol. On the S7 side you have to foresee the Modbus driver for the CP343-1

The 2500P-ECC1 is more performant, easier to configure and cheaper than the 2572-A.

Thanks for the info,

I think I'll use Kepware's Linkmaster to handle comms. It gives me more options.

The CPUs are TI555s. I'm aware of the CTI ECC module, but I'd rather invest the money in a full upgrade to S7-1500 in the future than what, in reality, is old technology.

No offence to anyone from CTI, but it's really the old 555 with a faster engine. IMO the ECC exists to overcome limitations in the rest of the system.
