establish Modbus RTU (RS232/RS485) communication in S7-400/400H system using Cp441-2 module

Dear All, I need to establish Modbus RTU (RS232/RS485) communication in S7-400/400H system using Cp441-2 module. So I selected following module:- 1.6ES7 441-2AA04-0AE0 - CP441-2 hardware 2.6ES7870-1AA01-0YA0 - Modbus Master license 3.6ES7870-1AB01-0YA0 - Modbus slave license Now my concern is:- Do I need to include "interface module" separately for above needed communication (e.g.6ES7963-1AA00-0AA0 with RS232 interface OR6ES7963-3AA00-0AA0 with RS422/RS485 interface) ? I need to establish Modbus RTU (RS232/RS485) communication in S7-400/400H system using Cp441-2 module too and I need to know : 1- if I could make this project by one IF963 ? or I must buy 2 IF module ? 2-What is dongle (hardware equipment )? and i must buy that too ?

You will need CP441-2 with the order numbers below: 6ES7441-2AA03-0AE0 6ES7441-2AA04-0AE0 plus6ES7963-3AA00-0AA0 (RS422/RS485 interface). One will be Master and the other Slave. For Master you need to buy6ES7870-1AA01-0YA1 and for Slave6ES7870-1AB01-0YA1 (hardware dongle). Physically both dongles are the same. The loadable driver Modbus Master (RTU) for CP441-2 is available for downloading in Entry ID:27774018. The loadable driver Modbus Slave (RTU) for CP341 and CP441-2 is available for downloading in Entry ID:27774276.

Hello FK19744, you can use a CP441-2 with one interface module. But you should keep in mind, that one interface can act either as master or as slave - not both variants simultaneously. I want make ModBus RTU (RS485) communication in slave mode ( no need Master mode) ... My CPU is S7-400H , and need two CP441-2 , how could I programming in FC23 becaz ”ID” parameter in 2 CP module is different , one of them is “W#16#1000” and other one is “W#16#1001” in SFB13 and SFB22 ?

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (323)	Hello fk19744, the CP441-2 is not included in "standard redundancy philosophie". Nevertheless you can use it in a 400H. You have to organize the redundancy of the serial communication in the user programm. You need two calls of FB180, one with ID1000 and one with 1001. Depending on the CPU which is master the call of one FB180 - the one with ID for this CPU - should be executed. Youshould evaluate the error output and startwoodstock timer to recognize when the master doesn't send requests. When an error occurs, you should switch over to thestand byCPU. Another way for redundant Modbus communication is to use a CP341 in ET200M. Regards, Kaulquappe

Hello, for MODBUS Communication for S7-400H, you can used the IM153-2 & over it used the CP341+ Donngle (you can put next to any of your IM 153-2) I have used in such a way in all my DCS & H project. & the cost wise also its economy with above configuration....

Yes You have to used the CP341 if you are using the H System 2. Dongle is the On type of Hardware Lisence for the MODBUS RTU Communication (Slave or Master). 3. If you Put the CP341 on your IM153-2 (As shown in Screen Shot of HW) then if One CPU Fail then it will still work with another Master CPU, if you want 2 Connection with Your Modbus Patner then Used the Another CP341 in another IM153-2 so if one IM is Fail it will work with another Pair of IM (if you have in your Screen Shot I can able to find only one IM) 4. As I have explain above if you have a H System then you have to Configured with Above method the Same Configuration I have used in So many Project.
