Exporting S7-400 Diagnostic Buffer

What I want to do is read the messages that appear in the diagnostic buffer and send them to my SCADA system. I want to do this to enable easier diagnostics and quicker fault finding. Currently I only look at the diagnostic buffer when I have a fault. I don't check it more frequently because it's a hassle to go to each PLC individually. (Especially when you have many PLC's.) This way, I can send messages to the SCADA / HMI and have them displayed on a central mimic. Regards, Shaun.

billwest Posts: 510 Rating: (119)	If your HMI is WinCC or WinCC Flex, and your HMI is integrated in the Step 7 project, Report System Error will accomplish what you want. Report System Error is configured using the HW Config Editor, Select the CPU and then Menu > Options > Report System Error. It is described in detail in the online help > Configuring messages > Configuring the Report System Errors This link describes getting the system error messages to WinCC: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22727527 The process for Flexible is even simpler. However, it's the structure for the SZL_HEADER I'm a bit stumped with. I have used SFC51 before to read in the status of the PLC LED's and managed to work out the DB Structure for that but this one has me a bit confused - and my manual doesn't help very much either. Has anyone actually done this before (or know how to) that can give me some pointers in the right direction? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shaun.

It have done it as a separate DB before but my call would not accept the address this time. It gave some strange error. I now have the block running (from a dedicated FC) and the values are written to MW area but the results make no sense whatsoever. If anyone out there can assist, I will be eternally grateful.
