Getting position from PZD

k.bilic Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hello. I need to make simple program with S120 and S7-1500. I need to set position with PLC. I can't use any technology objects (can't use them with my PLC). My program will be simple: Set position Read current position from drive ifcurrent position!=set positioncontinue if current position=set position stop My problem is how do I read position from drive. I can read current speed and status word, but how do I set up drive to get position? Thanks.

So you would get the actual position directly inside the SIMATIC. You would work with PLC- Open blocks for positioning. If you have a S120, you can activate the basic positioner with standard telegramm 111. There is the actual position (r2521[0]) in the telegramm. For a easy communication you can use the function block SINA_POS ("FB286"): http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/68034568 It would be also possible to activate the position controller standalone as function module (without basic positionier, if you only interrested in the actual position). Then you have to active the position controller by p2550 = 0 and have to reactivate the speed setpoints by p1142 = 1. Regards Zako

Don't you need pulse output? Any S7-1500 CPU can useTOs. I think 4 to 20 depending on the CPU type. If you want to use the positioning TO you need a position feedback in the CPU. This may be a external encoder via TM Count 2x24V or a encoder with PROFIBUS or PROFINETinterface.~~I think a analouge signal 0-10V or +-10 V (and a AI module) can be used to.~~ The AI is not possible, but you can use the encofer info from a drive, if its supports telegram 3 or 5

If you work with TIA Portal V13 you can install STARTDRIVE and you would get the SINA_POS installed automaticaly. If you want to use the "TO" you can do that with the SINAMICS S120. If you don`t have an external encoder, you don`t need a module on the S7- side. You would get the actual position from the drive by standardtelegram 3 or 5. Zako

Zako I can't download startdrive library just with registration... i need to pass export check I tried adding standard telegram 3 and I could configure TO without any problems... I will try it out tommorow on actual drive and see if I can get anything to spin

krisbi Posts: 87 Rating: (1)	Thanks guys. I got it to work, however I have a few questions... 1. When I was configuring drive in STARTER I couldn't use Basic positioner and Technology Controller... I couldn't select Standard telegram 5, only 7 or 9 (or 110 and 111 and BICO)... Why is that? 2. In PLC, when I say to the MoveRelative Block to move for 25.0 units, how can I define it to mean 1 quarter of a turn? Do I define it when I configure Technology object or do I define it in STARTER, and where? Thanks guys for the help.
