Ground Speed Sensor to Logo!8

Hi Everyone, 

I am a student working on a project for a tractor pull club. I am brand new to the Logo!8. I am trying to connect/program a ground speed sensor using the Logo!8. The sensor is here and it has the Dickey-John/Packard connector that is listed. So there are 4 pins on the connector, ground, enable, 12 volt, and signal. Can someone please help me get started? I have watched the WBT tutorials. 

From here, we are also connecting a proximity switch to get wheel speed. With both measurements, we hope to determine a wheel slip ratio. Can this function be done with the Soft Comfort software?

In the link of the sensor is not a good information about the signal of the sensor.

The sensor must be powerd by 12VDC, thats not the problem fot a 12/24.... LOGO) but i (we on the forum) downt know of the signal of the sensor.

Is the signal 0- 12V? or 12-0 Volt or a pwm signal or a frekwentie signal or a kind of bussignal (like RC232 CAN-bus oid)?

You have to find out what kind of signal, then maby we can help you

Aha, your sesor has a puls output with an open collector. So if you want to use it with your LOGO you must use a Pull-up resistant. In the .pdf file they say a 10 kW resistor, it must be 10 kOhm

You place the resistor between the + of the power and the digital input of the LOGO

Your sensor give about 128 pulses every meter your car have moved. So you must count the pulses.

Note:  the most inputs of the logo are slow, max 4 pulses every second. The fast inputs (not on every LOGO) have max 5000 pulses.

Okay, so does it matter the power rating of the resistor?

The only kind of resistor that I have ever worked with are just the typical ones you would use with a solderless breadboard. Is that the type I would use? Do I just splice it into the circuit and wrap it?

No, the powerrate of the restor is very low,

0,25 Watt or 0,5 watt is enough.

The value of the restistor must be in the range of 1k to 10 kOhm, every ristance is usabel, ist not critish.
