GSDML changes for PROFIEnergy

Hi,

I have been working on PROFIEnergy and as I am new into this, I don't know what changes will have to make in GSDML that support for PROFIEnergy profile.

Any help would be really appreciable.

A GSDML file is a XML file that is used by a Profinet IO controller to setup communications with a Profinet IO Device. Once it is integrated in the Profinet configurator, it allows the programmer to select communication modules already defined in the GSDML file for the specific project wehere this Profinet IO device will be used.

For example, if you look at the attachment below, you will see different data exchange modules are available for a SEW MOVIDRIVE VFD, once its GSDML file is integrated in the Profinet controller. If your program requires Safety modules, you would select the ProfiSafe module: F-module iO module. If you do not require them, you would simply not select it for inclusion in the exchanges. Then, depending on the number of Process Data words required in this project you could select anything from 1 to 32 process data words, to build up your data exchange telegram with the IO controller.

It is not expected that the programmer will do any changes in the GSDML file. This is provided by the manufacturer of the IO device, and is their property, their responsibility.

If you give us an idea of the IO devices you plan to use in your project, and explain how you need to connect them to the IO controller, maybe we can provide further information.

How IO controller will understand that the IO device supports PROFIenergy profile? I believe to make changes in GSDML at one or more submodules with the meaning that PROFIenergy is supported (correct me if  am wrong). 

In practice, Just one IO device that supports PROFIEnergy profile connected to the IO Controller (PLC 15xx series).
