HMI TP700 Comfort in Hazardous area Class 1, Zone 2

Good morning

We have some doubts about the installation of HMI TP700 Comfort in hazardous area

Class 1, Zone 2, Group IIB, T3, IP65

in the specifications on the siemens site it reports that the operator panel is certified for this area, and the only caution is that being the rear side certified only IP20 (while the front is ip66) must be placed in an IP65 enclosure for our applications (for example we found a polyester/fiberglass ip66 enclosure with transparent front door from Gewiss).

Instead, the siemens local agent claims that it should be placed in an explosion-proof enclosure for use in a classified area because in the rear of panel there are electrical connections that cannot be exposed to the hazardous area.


So this HMI is suitable or not for Class 1, Zone 2, Group IIB, T3, IP65 ?

 So no one know if this HMI is suitable for Class I Zone 2 ?

I've spoken with siemens support also, and they reply that they simple read what is written in the datasheet ,  probably I will purchase the equipment from another brand who  maybe will know what is selling..

can you tell us where you have read that a TP700 Comfort could be use in an hazardous area
Class 1, Zone 2, Group IIB, T3, IP65.

I mean this is not possible without further ado!

There are only talk about area zone 2/22 and if you read the download file
"PI_ATEX_Release_07-2017.zip", there you will find this info.

Conditions of use for Zone 22
The HMI device must be installed in some form of enclosure. In accordance with EN 60529, the enclosure must guarantee: For Zone 22 the protection type IP5x for non-conductive dust and IP6x for conductive dust. Installation must ensure that at least IP65 degree of protection is given (according to EN 60529)......

I mean a colleague from me use a casing from "BARTEC" and he get infos from "BARTEC" what he has to do...! They are the right specialists for this.

Class 1 Zone 2 compliance is indicated in the datasheet and I 've found also a certificate on the site.

Moreover in the  link you have posted is shown the nameplate for a TP900 that reports

Class 1 zone 2 Group A, B,C, D  T4.

The only issue is the IP 66 certification  for the front and IP20 for the rear of the panel that we understand implied the HMI to be installed in a IP66 enclosure.
