HMIRTM.EXE encountered a serious error and must shut down

Okay here's the deal: i've got a TP900 comfort panel, working fine until recently. After an update of  the project the error Error: Application HMIRTM.EXE encountered a serious error and must shut down occurs randomly. That means anywhere between 5 minutes and 2 hours the HMI get this error and must be rebooted.

Google and forum search pointed at a malfunctioning SD card or USB stick, but neither of them are used. I also checked in the project for historical data or alarm / tag logging, they're also not used.

Next try: i've loaded a totally different project onto the TP900, the problem with the HMIRTM.exe is still there. Back to the original project, i've up- and downgraded from TIA V15.1 to V16 and V15, no solution as well. A factory reset of the HMI doesn't solve it either.

I've loaded the original TIA V15.1 project into a TP700 and another TP900, they both work fine and don't get the Error: Application HMIRTM.EXE encountered a serious error and must shut down and the freeze after that.

Any clues how to solve this?

It seems that alarm log saved in your HMI reached maximum count.

For example, you can select behavior of HMI such as shutdown or not shut down when it reach maximum alarm log line count set point.Please check in program tree Historical data section in tia portal for above.

Please cut  the alarm log to new location.

 I've just rechecked the project, there was still a historical data / alarm log file configured, however it wasn't used. I've deleted this entry from the project, but the HMI still freeze, even after a reset to factory defaults. How do I delete the log from the HMI?

1.Delete the alarm log file.You don't have SD Card, but log file might be saved somewhere internal memory.

2.Delete "simatic" folder from internal memory ,program folder" and the reset once again via prosave TIA.

3.Compile and rebuild the project and download it.Use latest version of TIA Portal which you have in laptop.

4.Update OS

5.If problem persist, make a new simple program and download to HMI. This program shall smaller size.Then check the behavior of the HMI. If HMI again reboot then infer that HMI have component problem or virus infection.

Once again I've tried to delete alarm log, re-install OS with factory reset, delete simatic folder, etc. etc.

The problem still exists, regardless of the project loaded on the HMI.

 In my case, What I see is that the HMI that are falling, the serial number are starting by C-Lxxxx

same program downloaded to two HMI that start by C-Kxxxx and C-Jxxxxx are not showing fault...

Is this your case?

The TP900 indeed has a serial number starting with C-Lxxxxxxx. My supplier replaced the TP900 with a new one under warranty.

 Ok, just share any improvement or any change...

We are currently experiencing the same problem with the "HmiRTm.exe" error on a TP1500 HMI.

Has there been any updates on how to fix it other than buying a new HMI panel?
