How do I delete GSD File in TIA Portal V14 from another project ?

Dear guys,

I install GSD files in Project A, but when I create Project B it will install GSD files from Project A automatically which I dont need it.

I open the GSD Manager, and want to remove GSD files. I cant find the option to remove even I can see the module at right side catalog.

Question: How do I delete it completely at Project B ???

as I know you have to remove it from TIA.

GSD files are not installed into a specific project. They are installed in your TIA Portal installation, and show up in the catalog regardless of the currently opened project.

Once you instantiate a device in a project that has been integrated in the catalog via GSD installation, a copy of that GSD file is put into your project. This is to ensure that you can fully use your project also in a different environment (e.g. on another computer, or after a fresh installation). Each time a project is opened in TIA Portal, it is automatically checked whether all required GSD files are already installed, and if not, installation is done automatically from the GSD copies in the project.

Can I remove the GSD files from TIA Portal installation because I installed many GSD files for test, and how to do ?

But that dosen't delete them from the hardware catalog.

Do you know how to do that?

Hello,

open Options -> manage GSD Files

navigate to the directory with the gsd files

select the one you need to uninstall

click delete.

That is weird. Are you deleting the GSD files in the TIA portal folder or in the project folder?

The F1 help says the same thing as ChristophD showed. The GSD file is no longer present in the local project GSD folder or the "<installpath>/\Siemens\Automation\Portal V15_1\Data\XDD\GSD" folder, but the GSD device is still in my hardware catalog :)
