HSC / inputs on s7-1500

Dear members,

I’m making a PLC configuration where I need 5 a/b High speed counters of 5 volt.

I know that the S7-1200 have a Snap-on SignalBoard  (€53,-)with 4 (5Vdc) High Speed inputs but there is no module to extend the number of inputs to 10. If I replace all the encoders to 24Volt than I directly have 6 HSC onboard of the CPU.

So I checked the ET200SP also nothing over there. Only in 24 volt 1 channel

Than the ET200S does have a 5Vdc module for €239,- only 1 channel. So I need 5 of them.

Than I thought, let’s take an S7-1500. But over there I can only find TM Posinput 2 (€450,-) for connecting 2 encoders. Or the TM count for 24Volt.

Isn’t there a regular HSI for the S7-1500 as they are on the 1200 ? for either 5 as 24 volt’s ?

I mean do we really need to buy a Positioning unit for example to connect a pulsing flow meter ?

Indeed an expensive exercise.
(That is why I like the S7-1200 range.)

Possibly (guessing) the answer will be in the new compact CPU1500 range.
(Think of the compact range of the CPU300, example CPU314C)
According to Press Information [LINK] we should expect
Simatic S7-1511C and S7-1512C.
These CPUs are already listed on TIA13 SP1 - but I do not know if you can buy them yet.

Have you considered encoders with communications capability?

(slightly off-topic) Careful for the S7-1200 specification.. not all CPUs and firmware version have x6 HSC capability - especially if you want to handle double phased inputs. Personally I would use an S7-1200 even before considering an ET200.
