Hello Tomy; If there is a market for such an instrument, of course someone will build it! The following extract is from an Emerson newsletter: With its Rosemount 3300 Series Guided Wave Radar Level and Interface Transmitter already installed in thousands of level measurement applications worldwide, Emerson now expands the 3300 Series to help users enhance safety and efficiency in extreme environments. The expansion includes special probes designed to prevent leakage and perform reliably when exposed to high temperature and pressure conditions over extended periods. The Rosemount 3300 is now available for temperatures up to 750 deg F (400 deg C) and pressures up to 5000 psig (345 bar). Common applications with these extreme environments include refinery distillation columns, liquefied gases and freons, power plant utility heater vessels, gas-oil production separators, oil-water separators and compressor tanks. I believe Endress&Hauser and Vega also manufacture such instruments, and info should be available on their websites. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello Tomy; Have a look at the Industry Mall, under Analytical Instrumentation, Guided Wave Radar sensors, LG200. You can use the Instrument configurator there to locate an instrument model that would fit all your requirements: https://eb.automation.siemens.com/goos/catalog/Pages/ProductData.aspx?catalogRegion=GB&language=en®ionUrl=%2fuk&activetab=config&nodeID=10038324#activetab=config& Here you will find a brief description of the LG200, stating it can be used in an environment higher than 400 degrees C... but it is limited to 75 feet (25 m) measuring range... http://www.automation.com/content/siemens-introduces-lg200-guided-wave-radar-level-transmitter Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello Tomy; When you are starting to look at that point, you have to start asking precise questions on your process data: - what type of tank are you using (overall shape, cover (flat/dome), material, ...)? - what type of material are ou measuring (size of powder grains, viscosity, layout in the silo: horizontal, angled...)? - what type of measurement are you looking for: level, mass, volume..?. - how much variance will the level have in normal operation, and how fast will it change (will there be any safety or alarming issues)? - will you be measuring while loading/unloading the silo? My experience with silo monitoring has been that strain gauges (mass measurement) on the supports of the tank (if load cels cannot be mounted under the supports) give a reliable, if not as accurate, signal, especially if temperature remains constant. You could look into this if no level instruments fill all your considerations. In the meantime, I have found a online catalog for Sitrans level sensors: http://pdf.directindustry.com/pdf/siemens-process-instrumentation/level-instruments-sitrans-l/18343-98449.html See pages 237-238 for questionnaire on specific application for guided wave radar. See pages 240 and following for specs on model LG200 and probes. |

Dear SonicRanger... So do you recommend LR460 for this application? Please I need a confirmation. Regards. Tomy.
