Hello Sam; Start by reading the information in this FAQ: What is the meaning of the terms "sinking" (German: "P-lesend") and "sourcing" (German: "M-lesend") in digital modules of SIMATIC? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/23451499 "The input and output modules of S7-300, S7-400, S7-1500, S7-1200 and ET 200S are P-lesend (sinking input) or P-schaltend (sourcing output)." So all 32 DI 24 VDC of the S7-1500 family will be sinking, See the attachment below, taken from the S7-1500/TIA Portal brochure. There is is only sourciing inputs 24 VDC DI module of the S7-1500 family:
Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hey, Thank you for the help. if it's not to much trouble can I ask you another question? what is the most efficient way to connect analog laser sensor for motor speed control? a) Sensors connected to PLC analog card? b) Sensor directly connected to S120 control unit? thanks again. |
