M function timeout

owenfred Posts: 30 Rating: (1)	I have a machine with a siemens 840D powerline. One of the m functions turns coolant on that washes the part in the parts catcher. Every once in a while the machine hangs with the coolant still on in the middle of the night and we come in to coolant all over the floor. I would like to know if there is a way to add a timeout so it will always turn off after 20 seconds. The manufacturer said I would have to hard wire a relay but it seems like this should be possible inside the m function itself. Thanks for your help, Owen

Sparcky Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello, I think there will be a modification that can be done in the STEP 7, so when the machine hangs up the coolant cannot come on, or stay on in your case. Just a little sugestion....good luck.

But, This would require someone with a knowledge of Step 7 programing to carry out the modification. Your machine OEM should be able to help you with this, Failing that, I would suggest you contact your local Siemens service office, They would be able to make these modifications. Regards SteveJ
