I have some questions about memory card for Siemens S7-1200.

I have finished project and installed PLC at customer's factory. Just in case something goes wrong (for example PLC memory will be cleared for some reasons) I want to allow customer to solve this problem ASAP. That's why I think memory card would be useful in that situation.

In Siemens manual we can find instruction how to transfer program from MC to PLC.

1. We should turn off CPU.

2. Insert memory card.

3. Turn on CPU.

4. Turn off CPU and pull out MC (How could we know that program is already transfered and we can turn off CPU?)

5. Turn on CPU.

Can I transfer program from MC to different types of PLC? (same program to AC/DC/RLY 1212C and DC/DC/DC 1214C for example?) As I know, device configuration is also on MC so it might be problematic.

You can only upload the program to a PLC whose characteristics are exactly the same as those configured in the project. If the firmware or MLFB differs, you will not be able to do so.

You have to check the LED state of S7-1200, the LED show if program is transfered corrrectly (link down below).

The CPU type must be the same.

"The RUN/STOP LED alternately flashes green and yellow to indicate that the program is being copied. When the RUN/STOP LED turns on (solid yellow) and the MAINT LED flashes (yellow), the copy process has finished. You can then remove the memory card."
