More when 32 nodes at one profibus using the integreated PROFIBUS interface

When I try and insert more than 32 dp devices in hware config I get an error "The maximum permitted number of 32 slaves has been exceeded". I have inserted a diagnostic repeater in hware config but still get the same error when I try and put more than 32 devices (inc repeater) on the network. How do I tell hware config that the new devices are behind a repeater?

CaptainFanatic Posts: 34 Rating: (2)	It seems that the limit of 32slaves only applies toan onboard DP master (I am using CPU 414-3 PN/DP). ACP443-5DP masterin this rackhas no limit for the number of slaves able to be inserted. Is this a bug or an unavoidable property of onboard DP masters?

The link is http://www.automation.siemens.com/salesmaterial-as/catalog/en/st7001_e.pdf On page 381 (5/15) you'll find the information that the maximal number of Profibus slaves for the first Interface is 32. Number of DP slaves, max. 32 The second interface is Profinet. The third interface would be the IF964 option Module. According to the other CPUs in the same page the number of slaves could be 96. Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi, The new CPU's with a Profinet Interface have only 32 slaves on the internal port (Profinet CPU's are fore Profinet and not for Profibus ). There are also 400 CPU's with after S7 41x a -3 instead of a -2, in this CPU's (with -3) you may place a extra DP Master module, this one could have 125 slaves behind it. Order Numbers You can use the IF 964-DP interface submodule with order number 6ES7964-2AA04-0AB0 in the S7-400 with firmware V4.0 or higher. Characteristics The IF 964-DP interface submodule is used for connecting distributed I/O via “PROFIBUS DP”. The submodule has an isolated RS485 interface. The maximum transmission rate is 12 Mbps. The permissible cable length depends on the transmission rate and the number of nodes. In the case of a point-to-point connection with a speed of 12 Mbps, a cable length of 100 m is possible, and with a speed of 9.6 Kbps a cable length of 1,200 m is possible. The system can be expanded to 125 stations.
