Multi-Function Input

With only a single input available, I need a multi-function momentary push button switch to activate 2 different Qs.

Press and Hold PB for 3 seconds to start Q1…press again to reset Q1

Press PB 3 times to start Q2…press a 4^thtime to reset Q2

If PB is pushed only once or twice, reset counters after 10 seconds.

My design works but seems overly complicated. Is there a better way?

You found an interesting solution.

Is it intended, that by two short presses followed by a 3 second press both outputs can be switched on?

And that I than need to press once to switch of Q1 and an additional 3 times to switch off Q2?

If I press the button more than 0.2s Q1 is switched on for a short time and switches off again...

I've created another solution (without first looking at yours) that should not have those quirks but is even more complex :)

Depending on the application it may be easier to use 2 different times, e.g. short<0.5s, long>1s and reset>3s, see example in attachment.

I've worked on revising my program over the past few days. It's still complex, but I'll accept my failure for a more elegant solution.

Simulation and live testing seems to handle my requirements. 

1) Press and HOLD momentary push button for 3 seconds to activate Q1 for 30 seconds.

Press again to cancel Q1 timer.

2) Press momentary push button 3 times to activate Q2 for 3.6 minutes

Press again to cancel Q2 timer.

Function Block B008 resets Up/Down Counters after 3.6 minutes... IF operator presses PB only once or twice.

try this and you can modify the outputs as you like. Press the switch once to switch on Q1 and press the switch down for 1sec to switch on Q2 switch off the two outputs the same way you switch them on.
