Need help/tips for Signal Module auto start-up

Hi everyone,

I am new to PLC and would like to gain some help/tips for the Signal Module auto start-up upon switching on the PLC with TIA portal V14. 

Currently I have ET200SP and Signal Module DQ 8x DC 24V/0,5A HF. I would like to have the Signal Module to turn its 8 channels (one by one) after I switched on the PLC (ET200SP and the signal module) but I have not much idea on how to program it in the TIA portal V14 with ET200SP. How can i achieve this result?

If I understand it right:

• switch ON the PLC
• the first outout (e.g. Q0.0) switch to TRUE
  
• then switch the next output to TRUE
• and then....

Some questions:

• What for a PLC do you use? Is it a ET200SP CPU or?
  When you have "only" a ET200SP IM155... then you need also a CPU.
• do you want that at the end of the function all LED's are on?

Yes, E.g. Upon switch ON the PLC, Q0.0 TRUE, 3 sec later , Q0.1 TRUE , 3 sec later , Q0.2 TRUE ....  till Q0.7 TRUE

that sounds good that I'm understanding your challenge.

I attached a project, created with TIA V14 SP1, written in FUP for easier understanding.

The program start the LED chain with the "FirstScan"-flag and set (with a constant time difference) LED by LED .

Thank you for the file :) 

What happened is that, I decided to run it. After checking around, I realised that both of the parts are actually Fail-Safe component (With yellow color parts). 

1. ET200SP                  CPU 1512SP F-1 PN 
2. SIGNAL MODULE    F-DQ 8x24VDC/0.5A PP HF

From the file you gave me, what I did is:

1. I changed the modules to the above mentioned modules.
2. The error warning requested me to put a new password on the module. I did that.
3. The error warning also asked me to enable F-capability and create a default FOB_RTG1 [OB123]. I believed it is Fail-safe organization block. I just used the default block that prompted. 

I compiled software and hardware(changes only) and it shows no warning. 

However, when i try to download to the device, it is not successful. 

Question is:
1. does changing the components have any impact on the LED_control function block?
2. Is there something wrong with my network ? subnet or other network configuration i should look at?

If they are different then couldn't work.

This is one off the challenges at TIA that the software check also the firmware version.

Do you have any diagnostic messages?

Can you connect the PLC online?

If yes than select at the device manager the CPU and press CTRL+D (online diagnosis).
Then can you see the messages at the diagnosis buffer.
The buffer can you also export as a txt-file.

Please attach this file for a easier diagnosis of your failure.

 Hi CaOd,

The good news is that, I tried to rectify the connection problem and it went well. All the configuration shows green circle tabs when I uploaded the software into the PLC. Now, I tried to switched on the PLC but the outcome is not met. None of the channel's LED light up.

Current setting is:
CPU : 1512SP  F-1 PN
Signal Module : F-DQ 8x24VDC/0.5A PP HF_1

Is there a loophole for the kickstart of the "FirstScan"? Must I do something in Main[OB1]?

Hi CaOd and everyone else,

I have changed the CPU and Signal Module and put it under TIA compressed file. 

CPU : 1512SP  F-1 PN
Signal Module : F-DQ 8x24VDC/0.5A PP HF_1 

The objective has still not been met (Signal Module to automatically switched on its LED 1 to LED 8 when PLC is switched on).

The file that I have shows minimal warnings and no error. The warning that was seen after some edit would be error in lower-level component which is easily solved by Assigning address (The yellow circle with red dot) and upload into device. 

Observation/ Question: Does OB1 really run our function? Is it in TRUE state before going FALSE upon start-up ? I can't monitor value as the TIA portal shows that device is "Unreachable" which is true as it is just switched on during testing (It need time to be ONLINE in TIA portal). 

Is my IO tag not right which trigger the reason why the LED is not lighted up?

Hello MFMF,

I check the program and the device configuration.

The "only small mistake" is in your device configuration of the CPU.
You must switch on the system memory byte
(Device configuration - General - System and clock memory)
At the same time I check also the clock memory byte.

The system memory byte do you need for the flag "FirstScan" (M1.0). If you don't activate this then couldn't work the program. The reason is that than the flag "FirstScan" is every time FALSE.

Please switch on this memory byte and the program should work.
