Hello russ1669 , In order to make bidirectional communication, you need to setup a single device as a Server and Client. On you logosoft goto Tools>Ethernet Connections and right click Ethernet Connections>Add Connection then setup a proper IP adresses. For your Last Question: You can not make a connection not connected to "Output". Output on this context means DI/DO/AI/AO/Digital Flag/Analog Flag/... but if you need to store values to be read and write via network you can use Parameter mapping.
