If you want to use the DEMO-connection to the SIMATIC NET OPC Server you have to activate the CP simulation. This CP simulation is a virtual communication device which is connected to a virtual PLC. Only with this CP simulation activated you have access to the simulated values of the OPC items shown in the scores7.txt file: [DEMO(Aliases)] DemoTemperature=DB10,INT12 DemoPower=DB10,DWORD14 DemoS7_DB=DB10,W0,6 DemoS7_E=EB0 DemoS7_A=AW0 [@LOCALSERVER(Aliases)] To activate the CP simulation just follow these steps (first close all OPC clients!): Start the “Configuration Console” program in the Start menu: Start -> SIMATIC -> SIMATIC NET -> Settings -> Configuration Console In the left-hand navigation window, open the property page for the simulation module by expanding SIMATIC NET Configuration -> Modules and click on the “CP Simulation” icon Click the check box for the protocol you want to simulate (e.g. S7) Click "Apply" and exit the Configuration console Now you can start the OPC scout, and when you browse for variables in the "OPC navigator" you will see the DEMO connection and the variables.

Leos Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	Sorry, but I don't want to use Demo (I can do that ), but real connection made in Step7 NetPro and downloaded to the IE station. According to manual I should see in OPC Scout: "You will now see your protocols in the OPC Navigator Double-click on "S7", the connection name you configured in NetPro appears." But I can see nothing. Best regards

If I understand you right, you have a single PC with the PC / Software Edition 2005 + HF1 installed. Do you have a PLC connected to the PC (or WinAC on the same PC)? Which communication device are you using? Is the "Station Configurator" correctly configured (green check marks in in the "Run/Stop" column for each device, a connection icon in the connection column for the OPC server)? A very helpful documentation can be found at: Start -> SIMATIC -> SIMATIC NET -> Commissioning PC Stations, Chapter 7 (This documentation refers to the SIMATIC NET CD 11/2003 software but the procedure is the same for SIMATIC NET 2005).

I am able reach any of them with STEP7 or WinCC(from another computer). I tried to configure some of them and also Unspecified connection according to:* "Configuration Guide Commissioning and Configuration of an S7 Connection over Ethernet with the SIMATIC NET OPC Server and SIMATIC NET PC Software" Which communication device are you using? *I am using Ethernet card instaled in PC, which I configured in STEP7 as IE General.* Is the "Station Configurator" correctly configured (green check marks in in the "Run/Stop" column for each device, a connection icon in the connection column for the OPC server)? *Yes* Last experiment was made with CPU S7300, CP343-1 and Commissioning PC Stations, Chapter 7 as you advised me. After downloading or import station in Station configuration editor is everything green, connection in its column. After I open OPC Scout and create my group under OPC.SimaticNET I can see under \S7 connection only @LOCALSERVER. Under \SYM connection I can see symbolic items, but if I want to add them to group I get messsage: "The Item definition does not exist in the server address place" Greetings, Leos Attachment StationConfiguration.JPG (1359 Downloads)

No error messages while loading the configuration to the PC station (via Ethernet from another PC, I think)? Have you tried to save and compile the whole NetPro configuration (not only the canges) before loading it into the PC station? Could you please post a screenshot of your NetPro configuration (with the OPC server selected and the property window of the S7 connection you use)? The very last step is then the re-installation of the SIMATIC NET software [:(]
